The goal of our tiered format structure is to leverage the depth of the AFM name while enabling differentiation of individual operators.

Affiliated Foods Midwest Cooperative 1st Tier Format Structure

The goal of our tiered format structure is to leverage the depth of the AFM name while enabling diversity of individual operators. This is based on the premise that the total volume and store count create efficiencies. We have three tiers for stores to fall under and each have their own set of criteria to meet. The top tier is AFM MarketPlace; it is the highest level tiered format with the most strict operations criteria. The AFM SuperMarket would be required to meet a core set of criteria as well as a set number of additional criteria. The middle tier is AFM HomeTown Market; it is a mid-level tiered format showing flexibility, yet setting forth operating standards. The AFM HomeTown Market would be required to meet a core set of criteria as well as a lesser set number of additional criteria than the AFM SuperMarket. The base tier is AFM Market; it offers the most flexibility, yet still sets forth operating standards. This tiered store is considered the base format, which would be required to adhere to the core criteria only.
